Bruges is half an hour from the estate, and with good planning you avoid the crowds. For couples we recommend three places that make the city romantic — no tour, no waiting, just a morning or afternoon walking together.
The Minnewater (Lake of Love)
Literally translated 'Lake of Love'. The most photogenic park in Bruges — with swans, old trees and the Beguinage right next to it. Start here for a peaceful atmosphere.
The Boniface Bridge
The smallest bridge in Bruges, in a quiet garden by the Church of Our Lady. According to city folklore, couples who cross here together stay in love forever. Great photo spot.
Bruges chocolaterie
We have a personal bond with the Bruges chocolatiers — they provided the pralines at the opening of Guesthouse Ensenada in 2009. At Dumon or The Chocolate Line you get real Bruges pralines. Buy a few for the road and eat them together on a bench by the canals.
